Three-tier Wedding Cake - Pink & Gold Theme: January 2008

Hi friends, I was working on this wedding cake for almost ten days. This was made for a lovely young Sri Lankan couple, who recently got married and are on their way to Australia. The theme of the cake was pink with gold trimmings. I made the scrolls and hand painted them with gold. The arum lilies, roses and blossom flowers were made with hue of pink and gold to match the ambience. The wine glass was painted gold to hold the top tier of the cake. I made the date cakes for the second and top layer and the bottom layer is a madeira cake. It really makes one feel so happy to see smiles on the faces and take one step further as a sugarpaste artist in search of excellence ! In the world of infinity, as a learner, one keeps building the foundation slowly, and your words and comments (i value them) helps me in this journey to move on.

"It really makes one feel so happy to see smiles on the faces " thats what makes it going even with all that effort going behind each creation :)
Recently i read somewhere about creating the designs with gold and they were also suggesting your same technique....it has come out beautifully :)

hi mishmash
the happy face and the inner joy brings so much satisfaction..it makes you go on.. we both fully agree, dear !
yeah, to do the gold painting, had to experiment with gin, liqueur, rum, whiskey for faster drying of the edible gold lustre/dust. Strange, that in cake, sometimes you have to seek help of spirits, eh! i also found out single colour wedding cakes are much liked and i got the oppurtunity to experiment on that.
thanks for passing by and leaving your words..it helps.

Thats absolutely astounding and so beautiful. You are a truly professional wedding cake decorators. The colours are so perfect 'to match the ambience'. You must come to India and teach me. I was busy for 15 days, so could not comment on your nature display and animal farm cake but they reflect your other side, too.

Just a question, which has been bothering me for a while..your blog site is sugarcraft-india but why did you not choose the same name and went for 'the sugarcrafter'

Thanks Priya for passing by and appreciating my work.It really encourages one to continue to create and develop further from a beginner artist of sugarcraft.

I don't know why you asked the question but i will certainly clearfy it. You are from Delhi, right. Well, i have been a blogger since 2006 and had developed the blog site as ' sugarcraft-india', when i started sugarcraft in early 2007.I chose the word sugarcraft, as this is what i started learning and made few cakes. I chose the word 'india' to represent where i come from. But due to copyright issues and laws, i did not choose either India or Botswana as the Title, as it is the copyright of the Government. The words like India, various emblems, state names cannot be used by an individual but by the Government of the country, as it is state property. So the best I could think about was 'sugarcraft' which,i later changed to 'the sugarcrfater'. One of the blog listing site quoted me as 'sugarcraft india' and i have written to them to change it, because of copyright issue. The site was under contruction for a long time and i posted my first creation on 12 August 2007.
I hope it satisfies your query.

Dear Dawn
Thanks you for passing by. Being in midst of releasing the book,I know how precious time is. And you took time to comment. Thanks and all the best for the book's release. Some of your quotes from your blog, which touched me:

“What is not started today is never finished tomorrow.”

“Dreams are like the paints of a great artist. Your dreams are your paints, the world is your canvas. Believing, is the brush that converts your dreams into a masterpiece of reality.”

“A true friend is the greatest of all blessings, and that which we take the least care of all to acquire” ~ Francois de la Rochefoucauld

“Money never made a man happy yet, nor will it. The more a man has, the more he wants. Instead of filling a vacuum, it makes one.” ~ Benjamin Franklin

“When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.” ~ Khalil Gibran

Thank you fizaa for sharing and posting it on your blog site.
